Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

Description / Overview

Even if you’ve never studied before, you probably already have lots of valuable knowledge and skills that you’ve gained from your work and life experiences. If your existing skills and knowledge are applicable to the course you want to study, you can use them to claim Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL), which can drastically reduce the amount of time or number of units that you have to study to achieve your qualification!

Watch the video below to find out more about RPL. If you’re interested in claiming RPL, you can start the process by completing a short survey to see if your existing knowledge and skills are applicable to Protea College’s Business Administration, Hospitality (Food and Beverage), or Hospitality (Bar Service) courses.

After you complete the survey, an RPL Assessor from Protea College will contact you for an in-depth professional discussion of your skills and knowledge. Following this discussion, you will need to provide Protea College with evidence (such as samples of work you have produced) to demonstrate your existing knowledge and skills. Protea College may also contact third party references (such as a current or recent employer) to verify your skills and knowledge, and/or arrange to observe you performing your duties in the workplace.
